Judge Verin was elected to a full term in 2010 and was sworn into office January, 2011.

Judge Annetta H. Verin is a Circuit Judge in Alabama's Tenth Judicial Circuit, Civil Division. This is Judge Verin's second commission as a Circuit Judge. Her first commission in 1993 distinguishes her as the first woman Circuit Judge in the Bessemer Division of Jefferson County.

Judge Verin was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she graduated from Central Elementary and Druid High Schools. In 1976, she received her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

After graduating from undergraduate, Judge Verin worked as an accountant at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in Washington, D.C. After working as an accountant for two years, she returned to Law School, and graduated from Howard University School of Law in 1981.

At an early age, Judge Verin believed that everyone should have equal access to the Courts and the justice system, regardless of one's finances or station in life. Therefore after law school she returned to Tuscaloosa, became a member of the Alabama State Bar, and worked as a lawyer for the Legal Services Corporation in 1982. There she was lawyer for the indigent and citizens who could not afford the regular costs of hiring a lawyer.

In 1984, Judge Annetta Verin moved to Jefferson County, Alabama where she became an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Birmingham. She started that career by prosecuting misdemeanor cases in Municipal Court and worked her way up to trying state and federal jury trials involving detailed and complex civil issues of municipal law. She later transferred to the District Attorney's Office in the Bessemer Cut-Off Division where she prosecuted serious felonies, including capital murder.

In 1993, Governor Jim Folsom appointed Judge Annetta H. Verin to the bench. She became the first woman ever in Jefferson County, Bessemer Cut-Off Division to serve as a Circuit Judge.

In 1998, Judge Annetta H. Verin became the first woman to serve as Municipal Judge for the City of Bessemer, Alabama. In that capacity in early 2004, she started the first dedicated Domestic Violence Court in Jefferson County. As a result, Judge Verin served on the committee to establish the first Dedicated Domestic Violence docket in the state court of Jefferson County and the first Domestic Violence Court for the City of Birmingham.

Judge Verin has always believed in rendering service to the legal profession and the community at large. For several years, she was president of the Humanistic Challengers Club of Bessemer, a federated women's club consisting of women community leaders. While president of the Humanistic Challengers, she established a junior club to promote high achievement and community service among junior and high school girls in the Bessemer area. She was an original board member of the Alabama Solution, an organization dedicated to getting more women elected to office in the State of Alabama. She has been a board member of the Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham, president of the Magic City Bar Association, an Alabama State Bar Examiner, and has been recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as a Top Birmingham Woman. She presently is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association's Mentor Committee, member of the Advisory Committee on the Alabama Rules of Evidence, member of the Judicial Council of the Magic City Bar Association, member of the Judicial Council of the National Bar Association and President of the Birmingham American Inn of Court. Each year in the Bessemer Division of Jefferson County, she sponsors an oratorical contest regarding legal issues for high school students. She was chosen as one of the Top 50 Over 50 people for 2014 in the Birmingham metropolitan area.

Judge Verin has several hobbies. While a freshmen at Howard University in 1972, she developed friendships all over the world. That is how she acquired a love for one of her hobbies, international travel. However, even during international travel, Judge Verin finds a way to serve the international community at large. For example, while recently in Haiti, Judge Annetta Verin, along with her husband, Judge Eugene Verin assisted their son, David, a music teacher, in delivering recorder flutes and giving elementary school students their first music lesson. A music enthusiast, Judge Verin also enjoys singing jazz as a hobby.

Judge Verin is the mother of two adult sons, Ray and David.
